On January 5, 2003, Stephanie Pepper seemed to disappear without a trace. She was estranged from her husband but he was ruled out as a suspect. Investigators learned about her love affair with Wayne Guidry Jr., which had begun just five weeks earlier. With the help of Erik Dufrene, a childhood friend of Wayne Guidry and Guidry’s father, Stephanie’s body was found in a densely-wooded preserve. “48 Hours" correspondent Peter Van Sant reports. This classic "48 Hours" episode last aired on 12/2/2006. Watch all-new episodes of “48 Hours” on Saturdays, and stream on demand on Paramount+.
