podcast about art and art history, but it's more about living in a place in time

when nobody's decisions make any sense and everybody as a walking fiasco with someone who has absolutely no

background in any of these topics except about being a fiasco. We are on the finale of the Caravaggio series, sorta.

I had to move the goal line a bit on this one.

What was supposed to be the final episode is now a two-parter.

This has actually been a helpful learning experience and if you're

listening to the show as this episode goes out live, my apologies that you had to go

through the growing pains with me. Here's what happened. I foolishly assumed that everything after the

Nooch's murder could be wrapped up in one episode and once my note started to

push two hours I had to break it up, mostly for my own sanity. I'm starting to realize that the upper limit of my well-being

when it comes to the episode length is just about an hour and once the episode goes over an hour

the whole process compounds and things start to get quite a bit squirrely.

So we are in the finale of this story, and even though the finale is now two episodes,

I would say that generally it's still helpful to think of this period in Caravaggio's life as being almost self-contained.

And while we're dealing with comparatively a much

happens,

happens, there's so much crazy shit that's coming.

Before this,

Caravaggio's life has been a series of evolving events

and people and artistic developments, but from here

on out there's one bit of context and commonality that makes this part of his life distinctly
