The phrase sudden change has been part of this program for a long time. It's pretty representative

of what all of us have endured in 2020. Well, sudden change will be the name of the game at times

for Michigan basketball, and Wednesday was the first in-season example. On Monday, the scheduled

game with NC State was postponed. NC State has paused due to COVID. On Tuesday, a new game

with Toledo had appeared on the

schedule. With a sudden change against Ken Palm's best Mac team, I think a fair expectation was just to

take care of business to get a win. Michigan did more than that. They controlled this game from

the jump outside of maybe a glimmer of hope for Toledo after a quick second half start.

But Michigan was balanced offensively.

Five players with 12 or more points, seven players with seven or more points, and a 58% shooting

night.

Michigan was overwhelming defensively.

Toledo shot 41% overall and just 9 of 24 from deep.

Michigan took care of the basketball, a season low, eight turnovers, and only four

points for the Rockets off those miscues.

Of course, soundly beating a good Mac team isn't a guarantee that this team will contend

in the Big Ten, but this non-conference slate this year and in past years, it's supposed

to show us some if then, some hypotheticals

to get you ready for the conference season. This was the first of probably several or even maybe

true sudden change scenarios in this season that will be filled with challenges it already has been.

The win was the prerequisite, The dominance was the takeaway and the true

accomplishment. All things considered, Michigan took care of business. We'll talk all about it,
