Summary

0:28.9	episode, we talk about the story of Elijah. He's a prophet during the time of King Ahaz, whose wife is
0:35.2	Jezebel. During Elijah's time, Israel has turned their allegiance to the God
0:41.7	Baal. And so Elijah calls a drought on the land, and then he takes the people of Israel up on Mount
0:48.0	Carmel to force them into a decision. Who will they trust? The true God of all creation,
0:53.1	or this domesticated God of their own making?
0:55.6	Elijah approached the people, and he said,
0:57.8	How long will you go limping after two opinions?
1:01.7	If Yahweh is God, follow him.
1:04.7	If Ba'all is God, go after him.
1:07.8	It's a showdown.
1:09.2	Yahweh versus Ba'al. Elijah calls on God and fire from heaven consumes
1:14.7	the altar. The people repent and they renew their commitment to Yahweh. Rain falls. The king of
1:20.6	Ahab throws a feast. It's a high note for Elijah's ministry. When the people saw it, they fell on their
1:26.6	faces and said, Yahweh, he is God.
1:30.3	This is a little Eden picture of God meeting his people with the gift of present and rain and life on the mountain.
1:37.3	And so it seems like things are going to go great from here, except they don't.
