Hello and welcome to Little Gold Men. I'm Richard Lawson. We're off for Thanksgiving this week,

which we figured would be a good time to share a recording from a live show that David Canfield

and I taped earlier this month with the actor John David Washington at the Perlman Performing Arts Center in New York City.

John David stars as Boy Willie in the piano lesson,

an adaptation of the Pulitzer-winning August Wilson play

about a family clashing over a precious heirloom, a piano.

David and I got to talk to John David about what it was like working with his brother, Malcolm,

who directed the film, as well as his previous performance in the role on Broadway,

how his football career has informed his acting career, and a lot more.
