Tell us a little bit about your job day to day.

So my job day today is like a firefighter.

You want to spend the time really thinking about policy and how you scale up good policy.

So you help kids around the country and you help teachers help kids and you help nurses have have

better circumstances. I represent 1.7 million people, most of whom spend their lives making a difference

in the lives of others, be them teachers and bus drivers and nurses and other public servants.

But when I say my job is like a firefighter is because of the division and contentiousness in the country right now,

there is a real zeal by extremists to try to undermine every institution that is attempting to help people do better.

So I'm in the business of bettering the lives of people, and I'm fighting a lot of entities that want to undermine that.

Who are those entities?

So, you know, I hesitate when I try to put them all in one bucket, but it, you know, it used to be that schools, that people across the political spectrum really believed in schooling.

There are always issues about whether or not schools were doing everything they were supposed

to do for all and issues about equity and funding and things like that. But now what's happened is the Betsy DeVos crew led or,

or in conjunction with other very, very wealthy families and their foundations.

The Euline, the Bradley, the Arnold,

a lot of the, you know, descendants of Milton Friedman,

but they've done something different.

They actually believe now in destroying public schools.

Christopher Rufo, for example, one of their chief orchestrators,

has said that to get to universal school choice,
