it really makes doing this on a weekly basis so um so meaningful and uh jul and i are continuing to figure out how to do instagram uh i think i've

people want to kind of connect the face to the voices that they're listening to and appreciate all the trust

and faith that you have in Julie and I.

on Instagram. Again, with the water. All right. So today's topic, I want to focus on shame.

In my experience, in working in mental health, shame is something that I've witnessed enough times to decide to do a podcast on it.

And it seems there's a dichotomy between psychiatric conditions and medical conditions.

I have high blood pressure. I take medication. I don't have any shame about it.

People don't generally have shame about diabetes, shame about even cancer.

But when it comes to mental health, because it's so individualized and unique,

there's a sense of perceived defectiveness and people tend to go inward.

Now, we've evolved, I think, somewhat as a civilization, at least in the United States.

If you go back to, you know, they used to just put crazy Uncle Harry on the 50s.

You know, they hid crazy Uncle Harry because it was an embarrassment to the family.
