Senate Democrats joined Republicans on a key procedural vote to advance the Stop

Gap funding bill that would ultimately avoid a shutdown by midnight.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and nine others voted to advance the House GOP bill to a final vote.

That's despite intensifying pressure from across the Democratic Party to block the measure.

Earlier House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wouldn't answer when CNN asked him if he has lost confidence in Schumer,

that says the bill, quote, will hurt everyday Americans.
