Hey everybody welcome to today's cold case murder many a quick look at the

infamous boy in the box case that has become iconic in the

decades since the child's body was discovered in a wooded undeveloped section of Northeast

Philadelphia in February 1957 by a young man checking his muskrat traps.

Unfortunately, this guy kept it a secret and feared that the cops would confiscate his traps when he reported the crime.

Then, a few days later, a... when he road and jumped out to chase a rabbit into the brush. He says he did so because he knew

there were traps in the area and wanted to check to see if anything transpired

with the animal running into one of them. Of course, police were suspicious about his reasoning but not necessarily from a standpoint of guilt.

They felt perhaps the young man had learned of the body's location from someone else and

then went to check it out at which point he decided to do the right thing

because of what he saw. Which was this? A young boy of approximately three to seven years of age, with a short cropped haircut that had seemingly

been hastily hacked from his scalp.

Not only had he apparently suffered a severe beating that was traumatic to the extent it caused his death,

but it was also clear that he'd been physically abused over a long period of time.

In fact, he was malnourished in a way that led to such a wide gap in his potential age.

No one could seem to pin it down any closer than three to seven.

Mostly based upon certain deficiencies in developmental considerations related to his anatomy.

Furthermore, there's a lot of speculation that this kid might have been raised as a girl.

That's right. More on that in a second.

But here was this dead little boy.

Alone in a wet cardboard box on a dreary cold winter day, but wrapped in a warm flannel blanket.

The irony is almost too much to bear.
