Welcome, Mr Gill. What's up! Drew, by Truckers? We have been big fans, yes. Yeah, they've been on the show a few times. Yes.

Yes. All right, so there's a new book about them, which is like one of the first deeply reported books on this band by a guy named Stephen Doosner.

It's called Where the Devil Don't Stay traveling the South with the Drive by Truckers.

And you know I figured we've had the ban on this show so many times

yeah and if we wanted to talk about the drive-by truckers we'd just talked to

we would talk to the truckers yes so you know being a guy that grew up in the South, I said, I should interview this guy, and

we should do it as a bonus podcast.

Well, and I want to hear your take on how he captured the South.

Yeah, exactly. Yeah, exactly.

Yeah, it was a fun conversation personally fulfilling.

So that's what we've got today.

And also, I think this works well with our Jason Molina episode because in a way

they came up around the same time in sort of similar traditions.

Jason Molina not from the south, of course,

but, and he met a tragic end

where the trekkers have had kind of an unlikely,

you know, victory lap kind of.

They are long lived.
