Today we are going to be talking about alpha tradile, which is also known as 17 alpha estradiol, not to be confused with 17 beta estradiol.

So this is sold under the brand names of a bunch of different stuff, including probably the most notable is Pantistan.

And basically how this stuff works is it is used topically

um traditionally in women i guess for treating hair loss and it sort of works by being a mild

five alpha reductase inhibitor how it's classified on wikipedia is a weak estrogen and five alpha

reductase inhibitor medication which is used topically topically in the treatment of pattern hair loss in men and women.

And it's not like traditionally in the States or in North America you're going to get prescribed this.

It is more of a traditionally used in Europe and it is not really readily available here.

However, how effective really is it is an efficacious

treatment to add to your protocol? So this is the thing. It's like presumably you would be using

this to bind to the estrogen receptor and inhibit 5A.R to some extent. Now, how potent does it

actually do this? It's like much less

effective than fanasteride, dutasteroid. So that already, you know, if you're using it solely for

that purpose, like I would rather look to an actual 5 alpha reductase inhibitor that has targeted

action rather than something that inhibits 5A.R are indirectly through its estrogenic activity.

Above and beyond that, one of the potential benefits of it is its ability to upregulate

aromatase expression.

So in balding scalps versus non balding scalps, or I should say in men versus women, there's

a significant difference in aromatase activity or expression in the scalp,

notably where it's prone to energetic alopecia. And there's, you know, obviously a different

AR expression too, which is obviously notable. And this is largely what is, you know, thought to dictate.
