that Rory Stewart and I do and our guest today is perhaps the least well

known of our interviewees so far but far from the least interesting, definitely amongst the

most courageous and certainly a leader. She's the leader in a fight and I'm now

quoting the name of her campaign,

stop Uyghur genocide, and she's the UK director of the World Uyghur Congress.

She's also amazingly a singer, a writer, an artist, a photographer, an award-winning interpreter,

and she's a former chemistry teacher. She's been living in exile in London with her son since the year 2000, and she's never been back to her native what she calls East Turkestan.

I met her at a recent Holocaust memorial event hosted by the Anfranc Trust in a small group of people which contained a Holocaust survivor, the descendant of a Holocaust survivor, and a recent victim of anti-Semitic violence who were lighting candles together.

And she was there as a reminder that genocide remains a threat and for some a reality.
