Well, it seems that the tempo on the actual battlefield has slowed a bit in recent days compared to the hectic pace of the last few weeks.

And instead, the focus of violence has shifted to Ukraine's cities as Russia switched at least

for the time being to a strategy of bombarding them with missiles and drones in an attempt to destroy

vital infrastructure and demoralize the population.

Yeah, various cities, Kiev, Kharkiv, Denipro, Mikhailayev,

and also cities further to the west, like Zittemir, have all been hit.

Mercifully, Ukraine's existing air defences have been able to knock down some of the incoming

out, and this, of course, is just as winter sets in. We'll be discussing all of that, but in this

episode, we're also taking a longer view of the war. So our guest this week, who we'll be talking to after the break,

is Professor Matthias Strun, who's a visiting professor of military studies at the University of

Buckingham. He's also chief analyst at the Centre for Historical Analysis and Conflict Research,

a bit of a mouthful of that, which is the British Army's strategic think tank.
