Hello everyone and welcome to L.S. James and John Robbins on BBC Radio 5 Live with

a special pre-recorded New Year's Day show.

And what a strange New Year's Day it's probably going to be for an awful lot of people.

For me the classic New Year's Day is the sound of cans being thrown into a bin bag in

different rooms in a house.

Yes, yes, yes.

And then obviously a walk where you feel rejuvenated and you think about the amazing 12 months

has to come, I tick it.

No not really.

What I remember from the great New Year's days is the sound of empty cans being thrown

into a bag, the clink of bottles, ideally someone else doing it and that's what wakes me up.

And then your one really positive friend decides to cook a big fry up and sort of comes

up with a plan for the day and you don't really have to do anything and you can sort of

be a positive person vicariously through them who says let's hike up a hill after a big

thing.

And I've never been that positive person.

I knew.

I might have some tools but I'm not making it for anyone else and I'm certainly not doing

any hiking.

No, the sort of person that can have two frying pans on the go and seemingly is unaffected

by alcohol.
