Cannibal number one, Armin Mithes.

Herman Mithes was born on December 1st, 1961, in Castle, Germany.

Armin's notoriety as the so-called Rotenberg Cannibal was not something anybody would have anticipated had they

born witness to his upbringing. He grew up in a middle-class family. His father was a police

officer and his mother was a homemaker. His parents emphasized the values of

discipline and order, very German values. Clearly his criminal tendencies were more a product of nature

than nurture.

Armin developed a passion for computers at a very early age,

and it would become an asset in more ways than one in his adult years.

Logging on to the Internet, years later, would provide him with the means to meet new people. Though Armin had the typical disposition of a young boy,

unbeknownst to his peers and family, it was a facade.

Underneath it all was a fascination with the macabre and grotesque.

He was primarily a loner, and when he was alone, he would indulge in morbid fantasies.
