0:00.0 | On the morning of February 4, 2015, 18-year-old Sarah Graham didn't show up for her morning shift at Walmart in Pembroke, North Carolina. |
0:17.0 | A few hours later, her van was found abandoned in a field halfway between Walmart and her home in Fairmont, North Carolina. |
0:25.0 | There were no signs of struggle, and the doors were locked manually. |
0:29.0 | Despite a thorough investigation, Sarah remains missing, and authorities are still searching for her. |
0:35.0 | On June 18, 2020, more than 1,000 miles away from North Carolina, 22-year-old Caitlin Kelly was reported missing from Sean O. Wisconsin. |
0:45.0 | No one had seen or heard from her since around 3am on June 17. |
0:49.0 | An extensive search for Caitlin began, but tragically, almost a year later, her remains were discovered. |
0:55.0 | While no official cause or manner of death has been revealed, many sources suggest that Caitlin was a homicide victim. |
1:02.0 | Investigators continue looking into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and her death. |
1:25.0 | Hey everyone, welcome back to Detective Perspective. My name is Derek Lavasser. I'm a licensed private investigator and former police detective. |
1:44.0 | Each week, I'll be covering an unsolved case and story format. I'll then give you my perspective on the investigation and provide contact information for the individuals or organizations connected to the case. |
1:55.0 | So that if you have any tips, you can contact them directly, and maybe you can assist in solving a case. |
2:01.0 | And if you're someone who's interested in true crimes, specifically unsolved cases, and you'd like to hear my opinion on those investigations, |
2:09.0 | please consider subscribing whether you're watching on YouTube or listening on Apple podcasts, Spotify or whatever platform you use. |
2:17.0 | Okay, so tonight's case, as you will probably notice, we are covering two different investigations. |
2:25.0 | And normally, I wouldn't do that. I like to devote each case to one specific victim unless the victims are connected in some way. |
2:37.0 | We did it a few weeks ago with the serial killer case where although the victims didn't necessarily know each other, it does appear they were all killed by the same person. |
2:49.0 | So in that particular situation, it's more than appropriate to cover them together because there may be similar MOs within the different investigations that may lead us to the suspect, the killer, so that we could solve the case. |
3:04.0 | That is not one of those situations tonight. As you saw in the teaser, these two victims were over a thousand miles away from each other and not really in the same time period. |
3:16.0 | But the reason I'm covering them together will make sense in a second. |
3:21.0 | As you will see tonight, both Sarah Graham and Caitlin Kelly are both indigenous women and their stories have not received much media attention, although they have been covered on a couple podcasts. |
3:31.0 | And when I first started detective perspective, the number one priority I had for the show was to give exposure to the cases that were more obscure and maybe didn't get the attention they deserve to give a voice to the voiceless. |
