of the book Pandemic Blunder and this is Dr. Joel S. Hershorn welcome to the show.

Hi I'm happy to have you here so Joel I've done a real brief intro right there but please

introduce yourself to the audience.

Well I've been working on health issues for many decades I started out as a professor

University of Wisconsin Madison where I directed a medical research program between the

medical school and the engineering college went on to become a senior official at the

office of technology assessment a congressional agency and I worked on health issues there

and I testified over 50 times at Senate and House hearings because I was seen as a trusted

objective expert went on to become a senior official at the National Governance Association

where again I worked on a lot of health related issues and been since I retired I've been

an executive volunteer at a major hospital here in Maryland and just got real active in terms

of the pandemic once I began to see the data coming out in early 2020 March of 2020 I was

very impressed by the data and I began to realize we needed to excuse me inform the public about

that we had the medicines the generic medicines that could greatly help out patients infected with

COVID-19 if they were given these medicines very early within the first several days or a week

and then later we began to get data to show that these same generic medicines could act as a

prophylactic could prevent getting COVID-19 so I wrote the book pandemic plunder because I really

wanted to be a strong advocate for using these generic medicines the solutions that a very

innovative bunch of doctors had invented basically including doctors Elenco from New York who wrote
