As a writer, to me, I'm less interested in genre and more interested in character.

And, you know, I've written in a lot of different genres, you know, kind of of horror genre, thriller, or action movie or kids movie or, you know, different kinds of things. And it it was always more I was always more

interested in character and hadn't really quite done something like this before

but was just really drawn to this idea of a guy like Gary Tyson who had been in and out of institutions

from the time he was a kid.

And having sort of raised three sons from behind bars

and how these three sons kind of grew up in the Church of Gary and thinking that their father had been, you know, unjustly accused and unjustly convicted and all of this stuff that they were getting fed from their mom Dorothy's played in the phone by Heather Graham.
