Summary

Jim and Greg close out 2024 with the finale of this year's 3 Martini Lunch Awards. Today, they give out their prestigious choices for Person of the Year, Loser of the Year, and Turncoat of the Year.

On Person of the Year, they both choose Donald Trump. Jim says the choice is so obvious that he spends his time focusing on the astounding year that his runner-up (and a close Trump ally) had in 2024. Meanwhile, Greg chronicles the staggering comeback Trump has achieved over the past year and really the past four years.

For Loser of the Year, Jim chooses the man whose stock plummeted the most in the past 12 months and he says there is a runaway winner. Meanwhile, Greg picks a group of people whose awkward efforts to engineer the outcome of the 2024 campaign imploded in spectacular fashion.

For Turncoat of the Year, Jim chooses a figure who used to align with the left and not only flipped to supporting the Trump-Vance ticket but embodies a demographic that supported Trump in huge numbers this year. Greg offers a whole list of conservatives who actually endorsed and even campaigned for Kamala Harris. But he has another choice that may be our favorite turncoat ever.

our most prestigious awards for 2024, the person of the year, the loser of the year, and the turncoat of the year. And so

a lot to get to here. And Jim, who do you have for a person of the year? Okay. It's one of those

0:47.9

rare times where there's a glaring, obvious choice. Yes. Time made it. There wasn't even any

0:53.8

much of a hullaboo or controversy over time doing it.

0:56.9

So I started thinking like, okay, besides Donald Trump, who is the most impressive?

1:00.9

It's almost like, I want to give it to him and I'm going to go straight to my runner-up

1:03.8

because I think it's more interesting or there's more to talk about there.

1:06.8

Okay. So my real pick, or the one I want to talk about is Elon Musk, because I think it's

1:14.3

the weird kind of year where Elon Musk can have the super heavy lift launch vehicle from

1:21.9

SpaceX can, you know, take off and then land, back in the landing pad, caught in two giant mechanical lines.

1:28.8

And that's not even like the biggest thing Elon Musk did this year.

1:31.1

You probably forgot about it until I mentioned it.

1:33.3

And it's like, for anybody else,

1:34.9

that's like the biggest accomplishment of their career.

And this is maybe one of the top three things
