Summary

Jim and A.Ron continue their re-watch campaign of HBO’s Game of Thrones with “What is Dead May Never Die”. There is some really strong stuff in here; Tyrion’s canary trap for the Small Council, the heroic and badass last stand of Yoren, the introduction of two fantastic new characters in the forms of Brienne of Tarth and Margary Tyrell. But there is also some less fun stuff; like anything to do with Shae. But all in all a great episode despite not featuring Dany or Robb. All this discussion, plus a healthy heaping of feedback ahead! Check out this FX breakdown reel from Iloura. Warning! Spoilers for season 7!! I'm Jim. I'm Aaron. Today we're talking about season 2, episode 3 titled What Is Dead

May Never Die. That has something to do with the Greyjoys, right? Yeah. That title.

1:11.6

It does. It's not the words. I know what the words are. It's more of their religious

greed. Yeah. It's more about that baptism scene with theon that we get. What do you think of this episode?

1:23.2

I liked it. I thought there was some pretty good political stunts, you know,

1:28.8

Tyrion's infamous canary in the red heap trap for his closest advisors. I really liked

1:36.8

Yoren's death scene. He went out in a suitably bad-ass fashion.

1:42.6

Yeah, I liked it. What do you think? Yeah, I thought it wasn't, I don't know,

quite as good as the previous two, although there were highlights, like you said.

1:53.5

That Yoren's scene is really good, and then Tyrion setting that trap for Pysel was also

really, really good. But everything else was kind of like meh, okay. I felt like there was,

2:03.9

it wasn't so much meh as there's like three scenes that really brought down the episode. Any time
