Music You're hearing unlucky by Blackpool Lights, featuring my guest, Billy Brimblecombe on drums. A native of Kansas City, Billy plays with an emphatic crispness that made him a valued member of that city's influential power pop scene in the 90s.

After relocating across the country and realizing many of his initial musical dreams,

Billy was forced to re-examine his priorities when his leg was amputated due to cancer.

Although he's still a working drummer, much of Billy's time is now spent as executive director of Steps of Faith Foundation,

a non-profit dedicated to helping amputees access artificial

limbs. The organization's annual benefit concert, Thundergong, is Saturday, November 9th at Uptown

Theater in Kansas City. Performers include Jason Sudakis, Winona Judd, Fred Armisen, Will Forte, The Get Up Kids, Sam Richardson, and more.

And so I didn't grow up with any of them.

Anyway, I was around my, for Father's Day, I was with two of them.

Both younger.

There's one that's older than me, and she lives far away, but everybody else lives in Kansas City.
