Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing so well and welcome back to the Criminal Makeup Podcast.

0:16.0

Each episode we dive into the minds of some of the worst criminals in history and today we're

0:21.4

going to be talking about the case of the Snapchat killers. Okay, so we're back in the UK with

0:27.2

today's case and this case does involve social media. Hence the name, the Snapchat killers.

0:33.0

Now the offenders in today's case shared some awful things on Snapchat during their crimes

0:38.4

and it really is just absolutely awful and shocking to do what they did anyway but then to

0:43.9

share it on social media is absolutely disgusting. But there is one other reason why today's case

0:50.4

has been given the name the Snapchat killers and that is because we don't actually know the identity

0:56.1

of the perpetrators in today's case which I know sounds absolutely crazy. It's like how do we

1:01.5

not know the identities of these people? So today's case is definitely a strange one to cover but the

1:07.6

reason we don't know the identities of the perpetrators in today's case is because the offenders are

1:12.5

children and because they were so young at the time of their crimes the UK justice system decided

1:18.5

their names should not be released and this actually does happen a lot with child offenders in the UK.

1:24.6

Now there are obviously some exceptions to that because we do know the identities of some child

1:29.3

perpetrators in the UK but for the most part when the offenders are under 16 we don't always know

1:34.8

their identities and that is what today's case is and I've got to say that this case is just so

1:40.8

terribly sad all around. The acts committed in today's case are absolutely awful and it really

1:46.7

does highlight things that have just gone wrong and it leaves you wondering what more could have

1:52.1

been done to prevent cases like today from happening so I do need to warn you some of the events

1:57.6

in this episode will not be easy to hear. Obviously the perpetrators in this case are children which

2:03.2

that in itself is not nice to hear but the victim in this case is also incredibly vulnerable. So

2:08.7

with all of that being said let's just jump in.
