Today we get to speak to retired agent Tom Simon, who served in the FBI for 26 years.

In this episode, Tom reviews his investigation of Las Vegas couple Perry and Rochelle Griggs

for orchestrating a prison Ponzi scheme.

While serving eight years in federal prison for security fraud, Perry Griggs started another

scam where fellow prisoners and their families were the victims.

When Griggs was paroled, he and his wife disappeared and a national fugitive manhunt ensued,

resulting in their arrest and conviction.

CMBC featured this prison Ponzi scheme case on American greed.

Tom Simon was initially assigned to the Chicago Division.

This case was investigated when he was reassigned to the Honolulu Division.

He spent most of his time in Chicago and Honolulu investigating financial crimes with an expertise

in investment fraud and embezzlement schemes.

He was also assigned as a part-time media spokesman for both field offices.

Later in his career, Tom transferred to the Jacksonville Division in Florida, where he

was assigned to the Joint Terrorism Task Force, JTTF, and also worked on a human intelligence

squad, recruiting and handling confidential human sources in the fields of terrorism

and investment fraud.

He handed his career in Jacksonville, serving on the financial crime team, managing a caseload

of white-color crimes.
