0:13.3	start on my birthday, December 4th. We have been bogged down with some pretty in-depth cases,
0:19.6	so I thought I'd take a break from it for a bit and take a look at this still unfolding story.

0:39.7	This is the assassination of a CEO, what we know about Brian Thompson and Luigi Mangione.
0:51.9	On December 4th, 2024, 50-year-old United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed in Manhattan, New York City, New York, at about 6.45 in the morning.
1:05.1	The shooting happened just outside the Midtown, New York Hilton Hotel. However, Brian was staying across the street at the Marriott.
1:13.6	He had traveled to New York for an annual meeting with United Health Group investors, under which
1:18.7	United Healthcare operates. He was headed to that meeting when he was shot, which was being held
1:24.7	at the Hilton. United Health Care is the fourth largest public company in the United States, according to
1:31.9	SkyNews.com, but when I looked it up 12 days after the killing, I found that it had dropped
1:37.7	down to fifth place behind Berkshire Hathaway, Apple, Walmart, and J.P. Morgan Chase at the top spot.
1:46.7	Brian was making his way towards the hotel when he was allegedly approached from behind by a
1:51.9	mass gunman and shot multiple times in the back and leg. In one report I read, he was shot once in
1:58.9	the chest, but I'm not completely sure if that may have been an
2:02.3	exit wound from the back or if it was fired at him from the front. He fell to the ground and the shooter
2:08.5	quickly left the scene. 9-1-1 was called right away. Police were the first to arrive about two
2:14.3	minutes later to find Brian still alive, but despite the rapid response,
2:19.4	nothing could be done to save his life. Brian Thompson was later pronounced dead at Mount Sinai
