Summary

December 8, 1980. 10:50 pm. John Lennon--the former Beatle and music industry icon--returned to his Manhattan apartment building with his wife, Yoko Ono after a long evening of recording down town. As Lennon walked toward his building, a young man approached him from behind. Lennon had met this man just a few hours before--he'd signed an autograph for him while another man took a picture. This time, the young man had a gun. He raised it and fired five shots, all but one of them hitting Lennon in the back. Lennon stumbled and fell and would be dead from his injuries less than thirty minutes later. Who was this young man? What did he want? And why did he do it?
