So I guess first and foremost, you joined the Army right after 9-11?

Yeah, yeah. Actually, I signed up for an Army RLTC scholarship in 1999.

Before there was a war on terror.

My plan was to go to law school.

I really wanted to be a JAG attorney.

But 9-11 happened and those plans changed.

I vividly remember as so many, you know, from our generation will recall, you know, sitting there on a couch watching that second plane hit the World Trade Center and understanding, you know, from a real base level that this was an attack, the world had changed. My life trajectory had changed. And so decided to wait on law school and, you know, asked for a

combat arms branched service in the Army. So would you branch? Branched armor. Yep, I went to

armor officer basic course at Fort Knox, Kentucky, back when it was back when it was at Knox

and trained on the M1 Abrams main battle tank and was assigned to Fort Carson,

Colorado after graduation and volunteered to be assigned to the last heavy armored cavalry regiment

in the Army, the third ACR, and instantly deployed overseas to Iraq. The unit had already deployed.

So I met them in country.

And I was assigned to first squadron, third ACR, Alpha Troop, Apache Troop, first squadron

ACR.
