We have Dr. Jackie Gardner Schmidt.

She's an Asha Fellow and is an associate professor of Carlo University in the Department

of Speech Language Pathology, College of Health and Wellness in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Before her position with Carlo University, she was the co-director of the University of Pittsburgh

Voice Center and director of the Speech Language Pathology Voice Division at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for over 20 years.

Dr. Gardner Schmidt's 30-year clinical and research focus specializes in assessing and treating

patients with voice and upper-airway disorders. Dr. Gardner Schmidt has over a decade of NIH-funded

clinical research experience as a co-investigator,

focusing on the development and efficacy of different voice therapy programs and has developed and validated seven patient reported outcome measures.

She has written over 60 peer-reviewed papers, multiple book chapters, and online courses, has presented over 600 lectures nationally and internationally.

She is also a TEDx speaker, and since 2013, Dr. Cardiner Schmidt has also owned Voice Now LLC,

which is dedicated to training speakers to develop, design, and deliver presentations more

effectively. Dr. Amanda Gillespie is our other guest. She is an associate professor of

odalaryngology at the Emory University School of Medicine, Director of Speech Pathology, and Co-Director of the Emory Voice Center. She earned an undergraduate degree in speech-language pathology and audiology from New York University of Pittsburgh. She completed her PhD with Dr. Catherine Bertolini Abbott

at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Gillespie leads a clinical research program

that challenges existing voice therapy

and diagnostic paradigms and examines the voice

as a complex product of the entire body.
