John Justin Bunting was a vigilante pedophile hunter, or rather that's what he told himself,

and that's what his band of murderous friends believed.

The Snowtown murders, killers, all lived in the suburbs north of Adelaide, Australia,

in highly impoverished neighborhoods where crime was rampant,

dysfunction was everywhere.

They had a tragic pass full of so, so much sexual abuse, which is why they were initially

so passionate about stopping sexual predators.

They identified their targets, attacked them, tortured them to death in ritualistic fashion,

and then stuffed their dismembered bodies into barrels or buried them.

And they got away with murder after murder after

murder for seven years, which is pretty surprising, considering they didn't

seem that smart, and all the victims were connected to the killers in some way

often closely. Romantic partners, a spouse, best friends, even siblings. Not a good way to avoid

being caught. The Snowtown murders, also known as the Bodies and Barrel's murders, were a series of murders committed by four men,

the ringleader John Justin Bunting and his lackeys Robert Joe Wagner, Jamie Vlasakis and Mark Hayden

and they all occurred in the state of South Australia.

This is considered Australia's worst serial murder case and the trial was one of the

longest in Australian history.

The police believe there were 12 victims killed in total.

Eight of their bodies were found in barrels in an abandoned bank vault in Snowtown,

about 87 miles north of Adelaide.
