I'm Sy Kelly at your host and Jimmy Agen joins us this time for a conversation about when

the early church knew that Jesus was God, this is something that is a matter of a great

deal of controversy and academic work trying to figure out exactly when this idea developed

was it late in the formation of Christianity, late in the first century, early second

century, was it earlier than that?

So Bart Irman has a materials called How Jesus Became God and I think a book, the form

the materials take.

Yeah.

But he also did a video and other things about it, but it's a good question in this sense.

It's really the modern question about Jesus and the kind of the modern story or one modern

story because I don't, there's many.

There's this charismatic figure Jesus.

Maybe he's accessible to us historically a little bit, but maybe not.

Probably an apocalyptic teacher executed just like many figures of that time were who

would have been a charismatic, maybe messianic type figures after his death, stories about

him develop that he'd risen from the dead and over time, a community began to worship
