My name is Brock Armstrong and I'm the Get Fit Guy.

BeachBody's website claims that

0:14.0

Insanity is the hardest workout ever put on DVD.

0:18.0

But I gotta wonder, does that make it the best workout or even an effective one?

0:25.1

Well, that's what we're going to talk about in this episode. The Beach Body Insanity Program is,

0:30.4

well, I'd say not for the faint of heart. Invented by Sean T. This 60-day workout program is designed to push you past your limits

0:40.8

with cardio, pliometric drills, and intervals of strength, power, resistance, and core training.

0:47.3

The marketing emphasizes that no equipment or weights are needed and that you don't have to be

0:53.0

in extreme shape to do it. Yes, that's what it says,

0:57.6

extreme shape. Now, I'm not going to lie. Having tried this workout myself, I can attest that the

1:05.2

insanity program is definitely not for everyone. In fact, the warm upup alone is harder than many of my entire workouts.

1:13.4

1:18.7

serious workout for people who are already very fit. With a focus on max interval training,

1:25.6

that may intimidate even some seasoned fitness pros, this workout

1:30.6

is not for someone who is new to formal fitness training, nor is it for someone who is

1:36.6

just building or rebuilding their fitness. So it's a tough workout. What's wrong with that? Well, the problem is that this type of maximum

1:47.5

intensity comes at a greater risk of injury. Along with a solid base level of fitness, you also

1:53.6

need to have good form and technique. And even though the video does a decent job of demonstrating

1:59.4

each movement, unless you have

2:01.2

a mirror handy or a friend who can keep an eye on your form, as fatigue sets in, your form

2:07.3

will suffer and pain will ensue.
