Ryhan Salam. Ryhan is the president of the Manhattan Institute,

and we'll be having a conversation that's going to cover the future

of the conservative movement and Trump's presidency through the perspective of Reihon's

work at the Manhattan Institute and most importantly his work with Ross Douthit back in

the 2000s that focused on this idea.

The GOP had the ability to build a grand new party, focused much more

on the middle class, and notably the diversifying working class of this country, a vision

that almost certainly been fulfilled by the 2024 election, where Trump solidified his gains

during a realignment election.

This conversation we discuss, of course, the realignment itself, opportunities in urban

regions for conservatives, and the broader story of the first 25 years of the 21st century

and what it means moving forward.

Thanks for having me, Marshall. It's a great honor to be here. This is a podcast episode almost 10 years

in the making. You and I first met back in July of 2015, totally different era that will

address in a couple different ways. But I'm just psyched to have you on the show, like, A, because

you were one of the first people I pitched on the idea for the real

alignment, but B, broadly, I think there's a whole cohort of people who showed up in D.C.
