with this podcast announcement for the show, but this time, I promise I really, really, really mean it.

Between having my first kid and navigating paternity leave, plus the fact that I just helped

run my first big tech foreign policy and national competitiveness event in Austin this week.

Life has been crazy hectic the past few months, and I appreciate everyone's flexibility with the inconsistent podcast schedule.

But the

TLDR summary of this is do not have a kid and plan a big event in the same three-month period

while also publishing a twice weekly podcast. But that said, I've completed both those initial

tasks. So I'm excited to dive into the podcast even deeper.

Okay, now on to the actual episode. My guest is Chris Omar Figneraja, president of global

refuge, the country's largest, faith-based national nonprofit focused on immigration and

refugees. I wanted to chat with someone like Crish for a while and was pumped

when her team reached out. Feels like ever since Trump came down the escalator in 2015,

immigration has been one of the central issues in America and across the West and broader

industrialized world. We've just seen a massive backlash against immigration policy and

refugees across the world, especially in 2024, even in left-leaning European countries. So in this

conversation, I was particularly interested in learning how her organization and community are

navigating this dynamic. It should be noted that as President Trump's polls continue to fall

across a variety of issues, especially when it comes to the economy and tariffs, his immigration

numbers are still where he tends to perform best. This reflects the fact that just the past eight
