0:52.7	Richard Dawkins in Los Angeles last month. These were fundraisers for his foundation,
0:57.9	the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science, which is also in the process of merging
1:02.5	with the Center for Inquiry, making them the largest foundation for defending science and secularism
1:08.9	from politically weaponized religion. Their work is suddenly even more relevant in the US because
1:15.6	although Trump himself isn't a religious demagogue, he's promised to appoint a few to the Supreme
1:21.4	Court. He's also put a creationist in charge of the Department of Energy, which both stewards
1:27.0	are nuclear weapons and funds more basic science research than any other branch of government.
1:31.9	So now we have Rick Perry in charge of all that. His immediate predecessors were each physicist.
1:38.0	One was a Nobel laureate, and Perry is a man who I would be willing to bet my life couldn't
1:44.6	utter three coherent sentences on the topic of energy as a scientific concept.
1:50.3	So I would urge you to become a member of CFI or the Richard Dawkins Foundation. One membership
1:55.6	now covers both organizations. And once you are a member, you'll occasionally receive action
2:00.8	alerts requesting that you contact your elected representatives on matters of public policy.
2:06.4	As many have noted, non-believers are somewhere between 10 and 20, 25 percent of the US population.
