Summary

Lorenzo Fayne was an American serial killer and necrophile who was active from 1989 to 1993. They did not quickly capture him because he lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and East St. Louis, Illinois. Plus, the police were understaffed in a time of record murders and underfunding to where they couldn’t afford car radios.

0:57.8	Centerville, Illinois, was a city on the southeast border of East St. Louis and had a population of 5,000. East St. Louis is a few times larger and has closer to 18,000 residents. As of 2021, Centerville no longer

1:53.5	poverty rate, crime is rampant. From 1989 to 1993, there were a record number of murders in East St. Louis, 284, and this was the highest per capita homicide rate in the nation.

2:14.2	There was little social cohesion in the community, and most homes had bars on the windows as the only real deterrent for criminals.
