Summary

Chemistry is often cited by many as the defining factor in what they look for when venturing into the world of dating - but is it the most important factor when it comes to the success of long term relationships, and what can you do to maximize the chances of finding the one while ensuring you waste as little time as possible? What to Listen For What dating apps are the best for establishing good connections? How do women’s preferences differ from men’s when it comes to dating and how do you take them into account when getting to know new people? What are the advantages and disadvantages of online dating and what can you do to mitigate the potential damage caused by the disadvantages? Is compatibility or chemistry more important in the long run and how should you be viewing both when it comes to looking for what you want? What one simple method can you use to break things off with someone you just met and are not interested in? How can you look at dating in a way that stops making it feel like a waste of your time and energy if you haven’t found what you’re looking for? Relationships can be hard. Many of us have heard that, whether it’s from family or friends or coworkers. But relationships can also be easy… if you allow them to be. In fact, most of the time a relationship with someone you’re thinking about spending the rest of your life with should be easy. That person should accept you for who you are and understand you as an individual. You’re on a team, working together to make the relationship work. This is why compatibility is so important, and arguably more so than chemistry. Chemistry will make for great memories and amazing high’s, but compatibility will carry you through the years. You may remember him from our first episode this month, part of our toolbox on relationships.

Evan gave us some interesting insight into that swipe life dating. And we wanted to follow up

0:29.6

with the full interview. And somebody who uses dating apps, I love this interview. But hey,

0:34.8

this interview was a great lesson. Even if you're not dating right now. Yeah, that's because Evan

0:40.4

not only has great advice for those romantic relationships, but we also talked about some other

0:45.2

relationships in our lives, those workplace connections as well as friendships. So sit back with

Evan, thank you for stopping by the show. Thank you for having me. Tell our audience a little

1:16.3

bit about what you've been doing over the last 14 years because it's exciting to have you on.

1:20.8

Obviously, we bring a lot of our male perspective to our male audience and you've been working with

1:25.3

women in the dating space for a very long time now. Yeah, I mean, I didn't start as a coach for women.

1:31.3

That's the rich irony of this. I was just, you know, 2003. I wrote a book about online dating

1:37.2

that did well when online dating was first becoming mainstream. And suddenly I was on CNN and USA Today.

1:44.6

And I was like, I'm not making any money because books don't make money. I was like,

1:48.8

kind of figure out something to do. So I started an online dating profile writing business called

1:53.2

eSirino. Online dating profiles led to online dating coaching led to dating coaching. And so I was

1:58.3

just a single dating coach in my early 30s. And after five years of it, I realized 80% of the people

2:04.7

turning to me were women. I didn't ask for that. This is probably the wrong audience to say it to,
