Summary

15-year-old Charlene Dvorak was found barely alive in a secluded municipal park by a railroad bridge. She died two days later. 2 classmates were responsible for the crime. 15-year-old Garland Hampton immersed himself in gang culture because of his childhood trauma and shot his friend over $100 dollars that went missing.

0:40.8	The victims and perpetrators were all juveniles.
0:44.1	The first case was a suggestion from a listener who had a connection to the victim.

1:02.0	The only Pulaski school I'm familiar with is next door to Green Bay.
1:06.4	Turns out, there's another Pulaski High School in Milwaukee.
1:10.2	It's formerly known as Casimir Pulaski High School in Milwaukee. It's formerly known as Kazimir Pulaski
1:12.7	High School and is on Milwaukee South Side on West Oklahoma Ave. It was hard finding substantial
1:18.7	material on either case, but I still wanted to cover them. Some of the research came from
1:24.0	court documents, and I even dug deep into the newspaper archives. There wasn't much available.
1:30.2	There were bigger cases taking up the media's capacity. The Monfiles case, overshadowed, other
1:36.7	crime-related news, and was next to almost every newspaper article I read about the first case
1:42.0	in today's episode. In the second case, the perpetrator's
1:46.3	childhood was so awful. I don't recall ever hearing of an upbringing that was worse than this.
1:53.1	Some of the through lines that tie these cases together, beyond geography, are what length of punishment
1:59.5	is appropriate for juveniles who commit heinous crimes.
