The Supreme Court will decide if former President Trump can be prosecuted on charges

he interfered with the 2020 election.

Justices will hear arguments in late April in a landmark case over whether former

President Trump has immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure

in office. Lower courts have so far rejected immunity claims from

former President Trump's legal team in a case brought by Special Counsel Jack

Smith. The Supreme Court has previously ruled

presidents are immune from civil liability for official acts but has not

extended protections for criminal prosecutions. A trial was scheduled to start next week but has been put on

whole during the appeals process.

Fox is Jared Halpern at the White House. Meanwhile a New York appellate judge has refused to

halt collection of Trump's $454 million civil fraud penalty

while he appeals the case, but he would still be able to do business and secure loans.
