Summary

Throughout history, women of all ages, backgrounds and ethnicity have made monumental impacts on National Parks here in the US and throughout the world. But why don't we learn about them? Men like John Muir and Theodore Roosevelt make frequent appearances in our history books when it comes to National Park history, but as the old saying goes - behind every great man is an even greater woman. So in that spirit - ladies, let's get in formation. In honor of Women's History Month we want to share stories a sampling of stories from the great women of the past and present.

Women in Parks Program: The National Park Foundation has launched a fund to support the NPS share a more comprehensive and inclusive American narrative that amplifies the voices of women.

The Thin Green Line: An organization dedicated to protecting nature’s protectors by providing vital support to Park Rangers and their communities who are the front-line of conservation.

0:40.0	I never say everything to you and you don't really tell me much about your stories either,
0:44.3	but we always have some sort of idea whether it be the park it's in or the theme of the story.
0:50.1	So this week I really tried my best to keep it under wraps until today because it was an idea that
0:56.3	I was really excited about and I didn't want you doing any sort of recon work on it.
1:02.6	Well you did a really good job because I have absolutely no clue about anything about this episode
1:08.0	except for that we're heading into a different country briefly for it. So that's all I know.
1:14.0	So this episode is going to be a little bit different than the others we've done.
1:20.4	I felt like we needed a little bit of a palette cleanser. We've been harping on a lot of sad
1:27.1	and depressing subjects which is clearly the theme of the podcast and one that we're going to
1:32.9	continue with but researching these stories every single week for many, many hours can get a little
1:41.2	depressing especially when we're working in a field that can also be depressing and there's a lot
1:46.8	of depressing stories going on in the world. It's just kind of a lot. Yeah and I think that this
1:53.8	yeah this week I wanted a little bit more of an uplifting story. That's why I decided to do this.
