Hey everybody and welcome back to I Just Want to talk about the Bible.

My name is Christian Keeter and I live in the southeast of the United States of America with my amazing, beautiful, godly

So here they are, right on the verge of the promised land.

As a community of people, they've wandered in the wilderness for forty years, and here at

last they stand, casting a longing eye over the Jordan

into the land that the Lord promised to give to them. Here at the last, before the entrance into the

promised land begins, Moses is giving speeches. He's talking to a generation of people. And this is not the generation of people who came

out of the land of Egypt as adults. This is their children. At the end of all of these speeches in the

book of Deuteronomy, Moses will, of course, die. He will not enter into the promised land, but

his successor, Joshua, will lead the people into the promised land, but his successor, Joshua,

will leave the people into the land and they will take the land that the Lord has given them.

But they've been wandering for 40 years, and here at last they are about to enter in.

But why? Why 40 years? Why this huge span of time for a journey from Egypt

to the promised land which would not have taken that amount of time? Well, the answer to that

question is no mystery because it stated outright earlier in the scriptures. And while the passage

going to be coming from the book of Deuteronomy which is what I've been referencing so far.
