Today we spend time in the Gospel of John investigating the different tools he uses

in speaking to his particular audience. Gospel of John, last of the four,

we have, uh, Gone of the Matthew. We say his agenda was Brent, the Mumzer, Mumzer,

outsider, all those people on the margins. And who was he? He was a Jew writing to Jews.

Was a Jew writing to a Jewish audience? Okay, then we had Mark, who was he? He was the Roman Gospel.

All right. He was a Jew writing to the Romans. Okay. Jew writing to Romans. And his agenda was

trying to give the Romans a Yuan galley on that they would hear and accept and understand.

We've got Luke, who was Luke, and what was his deal? He was most likely a Jewish convert. He

was a Gentile originally and wrote an ordered Gospel that we think paired up with the

parshot readings. Yeah. We took MD Goulders theory in the last podcast to do that.

So we want to talk about John. Now popular theory, typical understanding would say,

well, in Poplar's Galactic theory, even would say, who'd we say popular opinion puts first

as far as order of being written? Mark typically. Mark. And then who do we say, who do what

do they, what comes next? Matthew or Luke? Yeah. Matthew are sharing this source material that we

called what? Q. Q. And so popular scholastic opinions, Mark is written first in Matthew.

There's a debate about Luke and John scholastically. Popular, what I might just call, what I was taught

in my undergraduate education may not represent scholastic opinion, but popular conservative

event, joke opinion is often that Luke was written next after Matthew and Mark, Luke wanted to,

like we talked about popular opinion says Luke was trying to expand, give him more chronological,

give him more accurate, give him more orderly account. We challenged that in the last podcast,

said maybe there's another way to read it, but that's popular opinion. And then John, popular
