0:31.8	So let me just explain the concept for you. So the Rick
0:35.4	Thompson report, this is where I talk to my dad, Rick Thompson, and he tells us
0:40.0	about what's going on in the UK. He gives us a kind of report about what's happening in the UK at the moment.
0:47.0	And that usually means in politics. In fact, normally we talk about British politics in these episodes. So that's what you're going to get from this episode.
0:56.0	My dad telling us about what's going on in the UK in politics at the moment and it's a busy time in British politics right now because we're
1:05.2	about to have a general election. That's where everyone in the country gets to vote
1:11.4	for members of parliament. Those members of parliament take seats in the
1:17.8	House of Commons, in the Houses of Parliament in London, Westminster in London and depending on how the votes are cast
1:27.8	depending on which members of Parliament from which parties win the seats, you might get a completely different
1:35.6	arrangement in Parliament, which means you might end up with a completely different government.
1:41.7	At the moment, the government we have in the UK is
1:45.6	run by the Conservative Party so we have a Conservative government. The Prime Minister is called
1:50.1	Rishi Sunak. The Conservatives have been in power since 2010, so that's 14 years.
1:57.2	And it's a long story. You can go back and listen to previous episodes of the Rick Thompson

2:06.7	what's been going on, certainly since about 2015 when there was an election. Brexit, Brexit happened, David Cameron resigned and we got
