for a long time in my herbalism, I always was just waiting for that grandmother to show up.

You know, I always dreamt that I wish I had a grandmother that could just take me under her wing

and teach me everything, and it just didn't exist for me in my culture and my lineage.

And so I had to just formally apprentice myself to the earth.

Not everything the plants know has been written down. There's another level of wisdom that can only

be accessed by direct communication with the living earth. When we cultivate an embodied knowing

of the natural world, we realize that we don't need any special gifts or gurus or long lists of

memorized plant constituents to mediate our relationship with our more than human kin.

Let us open our channels of perception and reclaim our ancestral birthright to be

indirect communication with our mother planet and those we share it with.
