On August 31st, 2010, Lake Crystal Minnesota Police received a 911 call from a panicked

woman named Jennifer Nibi who proceeded to tell them that somewhat had just broken into her

home, cut her with a knife, then shot her husband dead.

Obviously, police arrived on the scene as a matter of urgency,

and when they did, they found the body of 26 year old James Nibby,

dead from a gunshot wound as his wife had described.

However, as time went on and more details about the story started to emerge,

investigators became suspicious of her original story. the story of

of someone breaking into their home at night.

And you're going to and you're going to Jennifer Nibby was born Jennifer Gilman on April 14th, 1977 in Lake Crystal, Minnesota.

From a young age, she'd always been popular on account of her outgoing personality

in her good looks.

As her cousin Carrie Erickson would later put it, quote, Jennifer had a lot of friends from all ages. It didn't matter if it was

from our grade or younger or older. She fit in really wherever she went. She was very popular

with the boys. She was very, very beautiful.

Of course, that interest that boys had in her led to the young woman having a number of sexual partners

by the time she was approaching adulthood,

with one of them getting her pregnant

when she was still just 16 years old.
