First Kings chapter 8, verse 43. Here in heaven your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to you in order that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your people Israel, and that they may know that this house that I have built is called by your name.

Oh, this is such an important verse.

This is Solomon praying at the dedication of the temple.

And he prays all throughout this dedication for God's blessing on his people, the people of Israel in the Old Testament, as

this temple would be the center of the people's worship and their lives. But what I love about

verse 43 is this is a point in this dedication where Solomon is interceding for foreigners, for

people outside the people of Israel.

And he says, here in this dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to you,

in order that so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your people Israel.

This is why we read in other places in the Old

Testament about how the temple was designed by God to be a house of prayer for all the nations. It

wasn't just a place for the people of Israel to come and behold the glory of God. It was a place for

all the peoples, all the nations, to come and behold the glory of God.

Now, connect that with what we prayed about in light of First Kings chapter 6, that we are

temples of the Holy Spirit. So don't miss the major shift that happens in light of that reality
