Hello, to recommend books they love, I'm joined today first by the actor Anjana Varsen,

winner last year of an Olivier Award for her role on stage in a streetcar name Desire,

seen on TV in We Are Lady Parts among much else, and starring on the big screen in Wicked Little Letters out this week.

With Antenna is Dr. Anne-Marie Mafferden, computer scientist and creator of the award-winning

social enterprise, STEMETs, which aims to encourage more women and non-binary people into science,

technology, engineering and maths. You may have seen Anne-Marie as the arithmetician

in Countdown on Channel 4, and her book, She's in Control, came out in paperback last year.

Anjana, would you like to start us off? What's your choice of a good read?

Yes. I chose the book Bessie Smith by Jackie Kay, which is a biography of the singer, Bessie Smith.

She was called the Empress of the Blues.

I chose this because I think it's one of my favourite biographies ever written.

Firstly, I'm a huge fan of Bessie Smith's music.
