Summary

Welcome to Church of the City New York's Advent Devotionals.

Jesus was good news in the first century, and He is still good news today.

One of the most iconic passages read during the Advent season comes from Isaiah 9, where the Prophet proclaims the light has dawned for those living in darkness, a child will be born, and a son will be given, the Messiah, who will bring peace with God and with mankind by ruling on David's throne. We hope that during this season everyone listening will gain a renewed desire to walk in intimacy with Jesus and to boldly proclaim the story of God's Son to others.

0:55.7	Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. The demons begged Jesus,
1:00.8	if you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs. He said to them, go. So they came out and went
1:06.8	into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the seat bank into the lake and died in the water.
1:13.0	Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town, and reported all of this, including what had
1:17.8	happened to the demon-possessed men. Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus, and when they
1:22.9	saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region. Matthew 27, verses 50 through 54.
1:30.2	And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
1:34.7	And at that moment, the curtain of the temple was torn into from top to bottom.
