How do I help a hurting person? That's a great question, Kyle. I think we have to assess

hurting people. And first of all, the reality is sometimes we think in the church that if you're

hurting, that that means you're not a

mature Christian or you're not doing things properly. The Bible is much more dynamic than that.

The beauty of the scriptures is that we can hurt for lots of different reasons. We can hurt for

things that are done to us, of which we may not have personal responsibility over. We can

hurt for consequences of our own personal

sin. And the Bible approaches someone hurting differently depending upon why it is that we're hurting.

For example, if a person is enduring the consequences of sin, there's a specific way that the Bible

talks about that we mortify sin, put off the old man,

put on the new man, and we can help a hurting person endure those consequences as we push
