Getting older has never scared me.

Maybe it's because I've always favored 5pm dinner parties over Bushwick Ragers.

My great grandma Mimi died at 96 and her daughter Dorothy followed in her footsteps, piecing

out at the same age this past summer, surrounded by daughters and granddaughters, preening

and picking at each other just as she would have wanted.

On the other, gruff wasp side.

My great aunt Doad was able to vote for Obama at the age of 100 and opted out four months

later, just a hair shy of her 101st birthday.
