and this is a way that you push back against capitalist systems, I think,

is that you push back against this rise in grind culture. I'm always grinded and I'm always

got to get up and feed the machine. I feel like it's a trick of capitalism. It forces us to move

so quickly we don't appreciate natural beauty. We don't stop and smell the flowers, the phrase.

What do you have to say to people who see working and grinding constantly as a source of pride

and how that can sometimes be harmful? I think that this is a good question. Thank you for asking.

I think that it's not lost on me that as a poet, I spend a lot of my time in my feelings and

in my observations about the world, which I am afforded because of a certain sort of privilege

that wasn't necessarily didn't come easy, but it is something that I'm able to, at the very least,

at this point in my life, I wasn't always, not until very recently, can afford my rent.

I know I got that covered right now. You have born privileges and earned privileges,

but they still are privileges. Exactly. There are certain things that I know that I have the ability

to do. I think because I didn't have as a child the tenderness and softness, I saw my mom struggle,

I saw everybody around me struggling, there was something ethereal and cerebral about

pause and stillness and the ability to do that. In the midst of so much violence that was

happening around me and just a lot of noise, there is a way that when you can focus

your attention on something, that's the art, that's the being an artist, on the beauty of this
