A new product from Google appears to be a chip off the old block, talking about its latest AI data center chip, and the old block,

well, that would be Nvidia, the powerhouse of the AI data center chip market. This sixth-generation

chip called Trilium is nearly five times as fast as its predecessor, Google Parent Alphabet,

sat at the products unveiling. In a call with reporters,

Alphabet CEO Sundar Puchai noted that Google has been pioneering AI chips for more than a decade.

He said, quoting here, I think Google was built for this moment. AI chips are those processors

that power artificial intelligence technologies and hold vast amounts

of AI-associated data. Right now, Nvidia controls roughly 80% of that market, which seems

like an insurmountable number. But in recent years, Google has been inching its way in, and now,

a vast majority of the remaining 20% of the market belongs to various versions of Google's
